I was wondering because it seems to me, some of the extended formulations of meds release the med so slow, you don't get the effects of the med. Like drinking a cup of coffee in 20 minutes versus 4 hours.

It seems the ONLY reason Extended versions of meds come out is because they lose there patent and generics come out. They always come out at the same time and I wonder if the drug companies are really trying to improve the med or not?
