Personally I find higher doses work better with Remeron and Trazadone

Unfortunatly for me Trazadone has the worst hangover of any med I've used for sleep, Remeron is better in this regard.
Don't know why this is, hopefully it will be different for you

Apparently Doxepin can also be used for sleep as an alternative to Trazadone and Remeron
