No it's not okay. You should taper off the med and then have a 2 week washout period. If you have a reaction to the Zoloft you won't know if it is because you have Celexa still in your system or not. You should also tell your doctor that you have switched. Plus you should probably start looking for a new GP and maybe get a referal to see a psychiatrist.
You also shouldn't take medication just because you don't want them to go to waste. That doesn't seem very rational. You should take the extra medication to the pharmacy so they can dispose of it properly.
Maybe you should see a psych for an evaluation. You said you didn't feel any benefit from the meds. Yet you had a doctor yell at you for not taking them (what an *sshole he/she was!!!)
What led you to talk to you GP about depression or anxiety? Do you think you suffer from either? Was something going on in your life?
Yeah, I would lose the GP who yelled at you. I'm sorry you had to go through that. How degrading!

> I was on 20mg of citalopram (Celexa) for about 6 weeks or so, then I decided to switch to 25mg of sertraline (Zoloft) on my own because I still had a lot of Zoloft left over from about a year ago and didn't feel like wasting them. Is this an ok thing to do? To tell the truth, I'm unsure whether or not the SSRIs do anything for me, I seem to get better on my own with or without them. I have one GP practically yell at me, telling me that the Celexa is like insulin for me and that I must take it, possibly for life. This GP doesn't even know me!!
