Ok to switch suddenly from one SSRI to another?

Posted by Shy_Girl on March 19, 2005, at 22:34:40

I was on 20mg of citalopram (Celexa) for about 6 weeks or so, then I decided to switch to 25mg of sertraline (Zoloft) on my own because I still had a lot of Zoloft left over from about a year ago and didn't feel like wasting them. Is this an ok thing to do? To tell the truth, I'm unsure whether or not the SSRIs do anything for me, I seem to get better on my own with or without them. I have one GP practically yell at me, telling me that the Celexa is like insulin for me and that I must take it, possibly for life. This GP doesn't even know me!!
