I am NOT a Dr. by any means, but I have been told that I have a "Refractory Case" where auditory hallucinations (voices) are concerned. I looked it up at www.dictionary.com and this is what they had to say Refractory: "Resistant to treatment: a refractory case of acne." So, going by that definition, I think your Dr probably just meant to say, that your case is a difficult one to treat, and you have not responded like other patients that he/she has seen with the same symptoms.. ie: "usually, a b and c work" but in your case " a b and c only worked a bit" so now she/he has to try treatment D -- If that does not make sense, I am sorry ( I am new to this board, and just wanted to try to help, as my Dr has said that term "refractory case" to me before, and he explained it sort of how I put it here) -- I hope that helped!!!!!!
