I know a lot who take something. There are also surgeons (one took benzodiazepines, the other some glasses of beer before operations). An assistant told me the surgeon who took benzodiazepines was very capable to his job (he presumably had some tremor without the benzos).
Another doc who I know, (psychiatrist) take sometimes antidepressants and he did not hesitate to tell me that.
