I certainly hope they don't hesitate to. Medical professionals have all the same problems as we do, I certainly would not want to go to a surgeon who is constantly ruminating about his problems...nor a psychiatrist for that matter. They should be first on the list---
As a past therapist. I think it is important to make sure you are doing absolutely OK and do what you need to to be OK.
Would you hesitate to consult a doctor who has diabetes about your diabetes? Id think she/he'd have more insight and sensitivity than a doctor who does not know what it is like.
A psychiatrist who has had medication him or herself would have more empathy RE side effects, etc....
