I have also history of major depression. But the background is anxiety/dysthymia/atypical depression/anxious depression/"leaden paralysis", now in reemission. Parnate is wonderful for me, have done a great job. I am just thinking that amfetamine metabilites of Parnate cause some remaining anxiety/muscle tensions.
Nardil has additional calming properties but I am not sure whether it won't shut down my psycho-motor drive which now is OK. I will stay with Parnate, maybe reduce dosage further and see. It would be pity to see 10 years later that Nardil was a perfect drug. One solved key is that I must stay with MAOI. I think it is a great progress in my investigation (fighting with depression from 2000).
Those who are/were on Nardil and have similar profile, please share your experiences with Nardil

It sounds to me like you definitely need an AD., but don't switch to Nardil if the Parnate seems to be helpful. You're one of the lucky ones who does OK on a low dose of (my maintenance dose is usually 30 mg./day). I have major depression w/severe anxiety, all in remission, and am taking Parnate for 20 years. I did well with Klonopin as an adjunct for sleep,but everyone is different. Again, I think you should give the low dose Parnate/tranxene some time before experimenting with anything else.
