I took Lexapro for 8 months at 30-40mg/day. I started at 10mg/day, and for a few days had stomach upset, diarrhea, runny stools. It basically went away over the period of a month, but, upon reflection, I think the Lexapro did give me some type of mild upset stomach the whole time I was taking it. One thing I found with Lexapro, as compared to Prozac and Celexa, is that it felt weaker to me. There were probably fewer side effects (no anorgasmia, twitching) than with those SSRIs, but..the Lex just did not seem to do much for me, even at 40mg. I know that is probably not helpful for you, but just wanted to give my feedback. I would imagine there is little harm at trying the low-dose Lexapro for several weeks or a
month just to see if the lactose intolerance will go away. I know that's probably easier said than done. I wish you luck.Chris
