I have been taking 350mg Soma along with one or 1-1/2 Hydrocodone 5/500 for Fibromyalgia since last October. Not every single day, but more often than not, depending on how crappy I feel; and since that time, I have noticed that my mood has so much improved that I have been able to phase out my mood stabilizer. I haven't felt any need to increase the amount of either; but will, of course, keep an eye on that, along with my dispensing docs.
An interesting note: My Rheumatologist (Fibromyalgia doc) would give me all the Ultram and Soma (which, as noted, metabolizes as meprobamate) I wanted, but would not dispense Lortab, which is the only med that left me pain free yet functional and unfuzzy, as I discovered following an injury. I told her that I didn't want any Ultram, but she still treated me as "drug seeking" because I asked for Lortab and sent me to a Physiatrist as my last resort. Actually, she all but called me a junky to my face, which was surreal. She was forcing Ultram on me, I was saying, No, I'd rather take nothing, and I'm a junky?
Anyway, the Physiatrist turned out to be a lovely man who treated me respectfully and said that, considering my surgical history and physical condition that I had a legitimate need for the Lortab and he was happy I'd found something that worked for me. So luckily, I'm getting the added AD benefits from the Hydrocodone without having to convince a pdoc for a trial. The funny thing is that the Physiatrist said that he wouldn't give Soma to his patients because he considers it to be a dangerous drug! I guess they've all got their quirks; but between two specialists on the payroll, I have a combination that's actually working for me physically and otherwise...for now, anyway.
