Derealization: "The dissociative experience of unreality or of loss of reality." (http://www.behavenet.com/capsules/path/derealization.htm)
Not sure what all disorders it is seen in. I would assume it's a symptom of anxiety disoders. I had really strange/debilitating dissociative experiences during finals one semester in college, presumably because of the intense stress and my resulting anxiety. I haven't been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder though, just depression, although I've had symptoms of many types that don't fall under that category.
> Can anyone tell me what this is? Today I was a to work and all of a sudden felt like nothing was real. It sounds crazy and it's really hard to discribe. It made me feel like hurting myself just to feel something, to know that I was real and the world was real. I felt like I was going crazy. It was like, "this isn't really happening." This sensation has happened to me before. Has anyone else experienced this? What is this?
