I would second remeron as a long term one as long as you watch your hunger... can cause weight gain that way. For sleep 7.5 or 15mg would probably be enough, 30mg is getting to a clinical dose. May even promote REM sleep states.
Also Ambien for a short term week to a month is effective (I happen to be among those who have taken it far longer than that, although they say otherwise, but thats up to your doctor). It may have less morning grogginess.
When they've fully ironed out whatever they're trying to iron out, Lunesta (eszopiclone) may prove to be a good long term solution. That remains to be seen.
