I agree, listen to you body, its been about 31 days now and I am taking 37.5 every other day until I feel like I stablize, then I'll move onto every 2 days off and one day on,until I feel stable and so on. It could take me another month, but its whats keeping me sane, functionable and out of harms way. feel free to follow my thread, renee tapering off effexor. Renee

Taking Effexor once every two or three days will put you through an unncessarily protracted withdrawal period. I have had great success discontinuing Effexor on several occasions this way, as well as benzodiazepines.

As a matter of fact, I would take tiny amounts of Effexor several times during the day. I would wait until the very beginnings of the withdrawal syndrome appeared, and then take a small dose. Don't be afraid to nibble at the tables when you need to. I found that I could go longer and longer between doses and use smaller and smaller doses. It worked tremendously well for me. It is important, of course, to determine what your individual withdrawal symptoms are to be able to act on them before they become too uncomfortable. By the same token, I think it is important to wait as long as possible between doses by allowing the withdrawal syndrome to appear.
