Speaking of SSRI agitation, Paxil made me so irritated, angry and mean that I had to stop taking it within a few weeks.
> > Here I sit searching for answers. My current Dr. is telling me Lamictal is the end all cure for Bipolar. The problem is I have zig zaging moods every otherday. But my depression is always agitated and angry. So I am looking into this disorder and need any information on "current" treatment medications. I see her in a week and as for my meds I'm on Lamictal, geodon, and paxil. I describe myself as slipping into the abyss of despair...

> Hi, I haven't been on Lamictal (yet), but I've read a lot of posts about it making some people irritable. Agitated angry depressions may actually be milder mixed state symptoms. Depakote or Tegretol,Trileptal would likely work better on those symptoms. I've also read some posts here about Geodon inducing mania... just thought I would mention that as a possibility. SSRI's can set off agitation too. It could also be that the Lamictal by itself wouldn't be agitating (without the Geodon and Paxil). Med cocktails for bipolar are very complicated. You have to look for meds/substances *triggering* bipolar symptoms as much as finding stuff to put a lid on them. Hope this helps some.
