Doxepin worked really well for me many years ago when I developed panic disorder. It's another tricyclic - more sedating than nortriptyline. It has the same dry mouth side effect however. Nortriptyline can give some people tachycardia (increased heart rate) and was not a good medication for me. It's other side effects are less than doxepin's so I would have preferred to take it but couldn't.I'm currently thinking of taking a small amount of a tricyclic because my anxiety problems have resurfaced.
Which MAOI were you on? Was it Nardil? That one is supposed to be particularly good for anxiety.
