Hey folks,
I've been going through a pretty bad period. After a little bit of poking around on the internet, I realize that the most disconcerting elements of my depressive episodes have to do with depersonalization. Feeling really disconnected from my emotions, and even my body. Thing is, it comes and goes. So it's not like its that bad every day. Like today, I'm feeling a little better. But when it hits (usually for a few days), I feel so horrible and, well, almost paralyzed -- both mentally and physically. (This is particularly so in the winter.)
I'm in therapy to try to address the underlying psychological turmoil and coping strategies that might be driving my depression. But I've also decided that I need a new med. (I'm on low-dose BuSpar, which doesn't seem to be doing much.)
I'm wondering if anyone else out there has experienced depersonalization as a salient feature of their depression. Also, what meds (if any) have you found to help alleviate the symptoms.
Thanks,
