meds and suicidal thoughts

Posted by Lyrical13 on November 10, 2004, at 9:27:16

Lately I've been feeling better than I have in years at this time of year (fall is usually the worst for me) but I've been thinking about suicide quite often. I've had much darker days of despair etc. where I rarely thought of it. I can think of maybe 5x in my life that I seriously thought about it. But I think about it several times a week now. It's scaring me. I'm wondering if this could be related to one of the meds I'm taking. I've heard of it happening with Prozac and Paxil. I'm taking Trileptal and Celexa. I've taken the Celexa before and did quite well on it and don't remember thinking about suicide with it then. I was on it for close to 3 years. The Trileptal is a new med for me. Also, my younger sister was on Trileptal last year and she was writing a lot of dark poetry about suicide. I don't know if it was her depression or the med. Anyone have any thoughts or info on this?

Thanks
