In reply to Does NEURONTIN really help with anxiety?????, posted by Robz on October 27, 2004, at 13:11:49
My understanding is that it helps some people with anxiety but not all people. The first time I took Neurontin, Xanax was pooping out on me big time after years of taking it and I was having to increase my Xanax dose to get relief from the constant worry, anxiety, tenseness, nervousness - whatever you call it. Since I had never tried Neurontin before and was highly skeptical of taking it, I broke open a 300 mg. capsule and put some of the white powder in a liquid and drank it. Not too long after I noticed that my anxiety was gone. So, that's all the scientific proof I need. I have found that it doesn't work as well for me at higher doses as it does at lower ones. Occasionally, it doesn't work at all, but then if I skip a dose or two, it works better the next time I take it.

> Does anyone have any scientific evidence proving that Neurontin does help with anxiety? I have been on it for a couple months now and I am really not sure if I am making myself feel the way I do or if it is the Neurontin. I feel great most of the time but I am still having some pretty bad anxiety at times.
> I have done some research and there is no scientific evidence proving that this med helps people with Bipolar disorder. It is actually a proven fact that is does not help the disorder. I think that these are similar and if it does not help Bipolar then why would it help Anxiety.
> Honestly I think it is all in my head and I think the pill is working so I am feeling better. Then When I do have anxiety its like well the pill is obviously not working and I need to cope with this..... Any info would be great!
