Yes, this was my major symptom of anxiety. I thought panic attacks came and went, but I had shortness of breath almost continually. I have been on zoloft which helped and lexapro which has helped. When I first started zoloft the doc gave me xanax which was immediately helpful. Then after the zoloft kicked in, I stopped the xanax and no more shortness of breath. Maybe your doc could give you xanax for a while until you adjust to the meds
