I've tried, concerta, (dexidrene now). and I notice at max dose I feel nearly nothing. When I was put on dex a few weeks ago we discussed adderal but he chose dex. Concerta they told me more adults use the longer half life and kids use the shorter half life ritlan.
If I recall the decision was from a response based on some past data. In other words I don't think it makes any differece which you try because it's either going to work or not work. For instance concerta did not work for me so we are now trying dex.
Those students taking those meds, It's odd sort of difficult to believe they are able to compare these meds. It just seems so subjective and vague to say one helps with math and the other writing. It almost sounds like they tried it off the street IE black beauty an compared some on a short term experience. More of a "boasting I stayed awake type of response".
I'm more apt to believe that when one has a deficency in brain chemistry and it is suplemented, progress, wellness will then be achieved. Not one helps math the other helps english. More of a general "you either feel better or you do not" approach.
My p-doc mentioned tricylics because of the lack of improvement we expect. I'm useally excited about changing meds, but this tricylics thing has me concerned.
I've never been diagnosed with Adhd, the research treatment center I'm at sort of lumps it all together and treats it the same. However the improvement I expect are those that adhd describes.
You raise a certain point though on the tiredness. I take a test every week and am rated. Adjustments are made based upon consistent ratings.
I notice in the test, they address tirdness, fatigue, concentration, disorganized, etc.. meaning some from depression and others from Adhd amd they basically treat them the same as certain depressions.
My point is these normal results we expect are so generalized that it's back to the trial and error in which it does not make any difference which one you start on.
I think the key is it either alerts and energizes you or it does not.
We both desire the same results so it will be interesting what is the final conclusion.
