hello there, chemist here....i am familiar with clorazepate, and took it briefly years ago (in the u.s., as tranxene). the figures i have (and i note that there is a benzodiazepene equivalence page linked from dr. bob's home page) indicate that on a dosing level, 0.25 to 0.5 mg klonopin are roughly as ``potent'' as 5 mg valium or 7.5 mg tranxene. the valium/tranxene dosing is on-par, but 7.5 mg of klonopin would be quite a hefty dose, in my opinion. the parent form is not a significant player in the anxiolytic effects: the metabolite is. the elimination half-life of the metabolite is roughly that of the active metabolites of flurazepam, quazepam, and diazepam....i do dot have overly warm memories of this particular benzo, as i recall that it was not - for me - effective for general anxiety. however, you might very well find that it works for you, and on an as-needed basis. i cannot state that i know anybody who is on the drug - perhaps this is reflective of marketing and sales, i cannot say - and i did specifically request the drug when i tried it, as klonopin/valium/ativan/xanax seem to be the anxiolytics most commonly prescribed. sorry i cannot be of more help, and please do let us know if you decide to go ahead and try this drug and how well it works for you....all the best, chemist
