> Hey, I dont know if anyone knows the answer to this question or not. But I take xanax daily along with lamictal and prozac...blah blah...anyway. If i were to take a standard drug test given by most employers, would xanax show up on it? Basically I am wondering if that would cause a problem on a drug screen....anyone know??
> Sandyhello there, chemist here...in my experience - and this means while on xanax and subjected to what i assume to be a ``normal'' urinalysis (i have yet to be subjected to a blood test) drug screen by an employer in the u.s. - the answer has been ``no,'' twice. i assume that the scope is limited to drugs/substances that are deemed ``illicit'' or (in the u.s.) schedule 1 (by the F.D.A.). i do know that some security-sensitive positions are subjected to greater scrutiny, but this (in the u.s.) is limited in scope to a (previous) 7-year window for most instances (standard clearance). i am assuming that even if your analyte(s) were tested for active and/or metabolite positives for alprazolam, that a valid prescription for the medication should be proof enough that you are taking it legally and under the direction/care of a medical professional. again, my two-cent's worth, and i do hope others will add their thoughts, as my experience/opinion is far from conclusive. all the best, chemist
