Hi:
In my experience along with from the reading/hearing, .... a small dosage, a 250 mg. does NOT help 'racing thoughts.' Because, 'racing thoughts' sounds like 'rapid cycler' that means cycling from depression to manic alternatively more than twice a day, ... that's in my case tho'. But, some BPer's cycle more slow-pace, ... on weekly, even monthly basis.
I know VERY well 'racing thoughts' is truly bothersome, however as I said the above, I do NOT think a small dosage, a 250 mg. Depakote, either regular or ER alleviates 'racing thoughts' you have. Most of cases, it's needed to be more than at least 500 mg.
This is based on my personal experience, then the other might have different opinions/experiences on this.
