In reply to 60mg of Lexapro Tremors and Palpatations?, posted by BRC on August 9, 2004, at 18:05:41
Not sure if Lexapro and Celexa are about the same but, thought I'd mention this.
A couple years ago my husband was on about 40 mgs a day of Celexa. He had a stroke and a few weeks later his psychiatrist upped the dose to 60 mgs. He was on it for several months. His tremoring got worse, I felt that his agitation and anger got worse and about drove me crazy. Finally, after several months I went with him to the psych and told her. She was amazed and said in a whiny self-pitying voice that this was all new to her and she didn't know anything about it. I'm sure she didn't but she should have been talking to me (wife) about it much earlier.
I took him off completely (gradually) which she did not approve of but I also fired her. Since then he's been on Wellbutrin (horrible depression) and Prozac (not much help w/depression and extreme anger and moodiness) and now back to Effexor. He just started Provigil for ADHD but I think the 150 mgs. a day of Effexor are too high - too much tremoring. He's able to drive and go to work but there are a lot of behavioral as well as neurological issues going on.
We'll see the neurologist tomorrow am - he sort've flits in and out but he's the one prescribing the meds and he's more sympathetic to me than anyone else has been.
> Hi, my pdoc upped my Lexapro up to 60mg several weeks ago. I have been taking it about two years now for depression, OCD, and generalized anxiety.

> I have noticed that when I physically exert myself I have bad tremors. For isntance the past couple of days I have been doing yard work and when I set down to rest my hands tremble very bad. Also when I lay back in the recliner or lay down on the couch or bed I feel my heart pounding badly--kind of scares me. I check my pulse and it is normal and my blood pressure also is normal. I guess they are palpations. I can take one of my Klonopin and they subside after a while.

> So, is the tremor and awareness of heart pounding associaed with the increase of Lexapro. Anyone's comments or questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
