I had a brief stint with selegiline and an amino acid called phenylalanine. Apparently there is at least one study which showd something like 90% improvement rate with it's subjects.
Prior to that my doc ordered a cream to be compounded with the med, hoping it wold behave as the patch has for some peole. (I believe the patch is called ensam). I'm not sure if it didn't absorb well, but I really just gave up on it, perhaps prematurely.
I guess it is energizing, if you consider insomnia energizing.I should add that there were and are a lot of "womanly" hormonal problems going on, and that may be why I didn't respond to the drug. Or perhaps it simply was not the drug for me. Or maybe if I had been on a decent mood stablizer it would have worked.....I just don't know.
I haven't heard about anything vis a vis selegeline and ADHD.
Word has it tht it was originally created as an antidepressant but found to be rather ineffective in that regard (ha- tell that to the people who get relief from it). In the end, it was pretty much relegated to the arena of Parkinson's, but now there is hope that it will come back as the aforementioned patch, where the med will bypass the GI system and thus render safe to take without following the MAOI diet.
Hope this helps,
Diane
