In reply to Please Help!: Which Benzodiazepane did i take?, posted by yoyoma on July 14, 2004, at 21:31:09
I hope that someone can identify it for you, or that you can find out what it was from whoever it was that furnished you with the capsule. In my experience, no benzodiazepine with which I am familiar is currently being marketed in the U.S. in clear capsules (are you in the U.S.?) -- but I'm not familiar with all of the different brands and generics of all benzos, though, so don't take what I say as gospel truth.
I have come across clear capsules containing white powder, which are being manufactured by underground chemists here on the West Coast and sold on the black market. These pills contain methaquaalone, the drug that used to be sold in the U.S. under brand names Quaalude ("ludes," "roarers" [so named after the old Rorer Pharmaceutical company], etc.) and Sopor ("soapers"), and in the U.K. and in Mexico under the brand name Mandrax ("mandies" or "beans"). Methaquaalone is a non-barbiturate, non-benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotic. Because recreational drug users enjoyed methaquaalone so much, the puritans banned it, and it is now a Schedule I controlled substance in the U.S., which means that your doctor couldn't prescribe it for you even if she or he wanted to. The benzo which I think is most similar in effect to methaquaalone is flunitrazepam, sold under the brand name Rohypnol. I believe that flunitrazepam is a Schedule IV drug nowadays, so I think that your doctor should be able to prescribe it.
Hopefully what you took is *not* methaquaalone, but instead is some other medication which your doctor can prescribe and which you can lawfully take.
Good luck in finding the meds that help you.

> I know this is wierd, but I took a benzodiazepane this morning that was a clear capsule filled with white powder. For the first time in a long time I felt like I could go outside and function normally. Unfortunately, I completely forgot what the name of it was and I have no way of finding out anymore! I would really be sad if I couldnt find the name to tell my doctor about it. Thanks for the help.
