Hi Panda.
> Zyprexa & Remeron are non-selective 5-HT2 antagonists while Seroquel is much more selective at blocking 5-HT2A only while having much less effect on 5-HT2C receptors. 5-HT2C antagonism increases appetite.
What effects does Seroquel have on 5-HT1a receptors? Another poster suggested that it was an antagonist. A few Medline abstracts suggested it was an agonist. My girlfriend is experiencing a robust and sustained antidepressant effect from Seroquel 700mg. I have become interested in trying this myself. According to the BNN newsletter, a recent study determined that Seroquel monotherapy 300-600mg was effective for treating bipolar depression. Interesting.
Thanks.
