I think you would get the same answer from Dr. Hutto as you did from Dr. George, because they simply do not know yet. You could be in the group of 64% who responds, or you might not be. They do feel that TMS is a less strong treatment than ECT in general; on the other hand, it is much more focal in nature, targetting the left frontal areas, and, by extension, the left limbic system. Even if you went to see him, you would be the one making the final decision about treatment, as they really do not know which people it will help, or whether it will help at all. It IS very low risk, however.
As an aside, Dr. Hutto, who does ECT also, as well as psychopharmacology, was named Georgia's "physician of the year" in 2003, so if you decided to consult him, you would be in the hands of a highly thought-of physician.
