SSRI withdrawal in the hospital?

Posted by shadowmon on June 2, 2004, at 3:05:52

Is there such a thing as inpatient SSRI withdrawal? Like Rehab? I just made the switch from paxil (evil) to lexapro. (unknown).I was trying to get off the meds which were prescribed for me during a traumatic divorce. I didnt really want to go back on another SSRI, but I couldnt handle the Withdrawals.. I lasted about 10 days and it was horrible. I couldnt care for myself and could not function I barely even ate.

I dont want to be on SSRI's forever, but I cant seem to even get over the hurdle of getting off of them to work on them or to see if I am still depressed and anxious. so at least I know for myself if I really need them or if I don't.

It seems like a vicious cycle, you're sick you take the meds, you get better, but the meds won't let you go off of them because they make you feel sicker than you felt before you took them.
