Hello, I just registered. I'm mainly on the site to check out issues with meds my wife was prescribed for her depression, but I wanted to quickly share my Zoloft success story. In 1995-96, I had horrible obsessive images of hurting myself. I had seen two therapists who didn't believe I needed medication and were taking a strictly Freudian approach - my relationship with my father. Well, in Summer 1996, I started seeing another psychologist (Ironically, he's now in trouble for Medicaid fraud, but at least he put be in the right direction...) who diagnosed me immediately with OCD, recommended I read "The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Washing," and worked with my family doctor to get me on Zoloft. The first couple months were an absolute rollercoaster. Sometimes the images were worse to the point where I could see blood coming out of me! But I stayed with it and for all intents and purposes, the obsessive images are gone. I've been on 200 mg for almost 8 years now and it's saved me. I do supplement with Ativan for the high amount of situational anxiety I have, but Zoloft is what works for me.
