Mood-stabilizers are notorious for DAMPENING mood, insulating you from the occasional highs but not the lows...worst of all, they often leave a sense of numbness. Rest assured, this is common. Talk to your doctor about it. Antidepressants can help, stimulants can sometimes help, and neuroleptics (abilify, zyprexa, seroquel, etc.) can also sometimes be of use. In the meantime, try to get a little bit of exercise, talk to friends/family you trust about how you're feeling, write down your feelings, and focus on the future, when you'll be feeling TREMENDOUSLY better. I've personally found that a number of drugs help with mood-stabilizer induced depression/melancholy, and this is true with most people. Please post updates as to your situation on the board when you can; its good to talk to others about your issues, especially people who have been in the same situation.
