Please do not go on Effexor XR if you have GAD. It will not help you .... it might take a mild edge off but I guarantee it will cause you more pain than anything else. Unless of course you never want to come off of the Effexor..if that's the case then go ahead. Because the day you want off is the day you will go through literal hell -I am not trying to be rude but this drug is a dangerous dangerous drug. Just read the posts. Brain shivers, mild seizures, nauseau, inability to even function normally.... lasts a long time and it took me switching to Buspar and Klonopin to get off it. Just so that I could take care of my son - this drug has caused so much suffering not only for me but millions of others....please please please read the posts before you commit yourself to this....
