The optimum dose is between 400-600 mg, at least according to my pdoc. 2 factors, tho: a) what illness are you taking it for, (bipolar, in my case )and b) it should be raised in 25 mg doses to pinpoint any unfavorable side effects.
Also, regarding the anti seizure quality is questionable, but late last year it became FDA approved for bipolar - the first drug since lithium!
