> OK i dont agree with all those posts saying benzos are an analogue of alcohol. It's simple: NO benzo can even come close to the : disinhibition,no social-anxiety,pro-sociability, and euphoria on top of that - after alcohol consumption. Alcohol works on many neurotransmitters and receptors - that's why its so hard to create a med working just like alcohol. Benzos work only on Gaba receptors. And they only make anxiety less pronounced (+Xanax for some is euphoric) and that's it.

the same for one is not the same for all. Personally, I've never gotten any euphoria from alcohol or benzos; stims are another story. benzo's however, have almost completely eradicated my social anxiety (alcohol could do this too but only for a brief period and at levels where I was slurring my speech and regretting everything the next morning.) ethanol is not a clean drug like benzos so it has many other side effects including toxicity. I don't see why anyone would want to create a drug to replicate the effects of alcohol, benzodiazepines are everything that is good about the drug (gaba potentiation) with out all the other b/s.
