Hi Franz,
Xanax, Lorazepam (Ativan) and Klonopin will all have a similar effect. Benzodiazepines are mild narcotics and you can build up a tolernace to them very quickly. Some people find that they're addictive, and you can go through horrible withdrawl if you take them for an extended period of time and stop taking them suddenly.
Of course, I a Xanax or Lorazepam to help with flying anxiety and it really does the trick. Many people take low doses of Xanax on a daily basis (.25 mgs to 2 mgs) and don't have a problem with it. Maybe it would be a very helpful medication for you to be on, just make sure you're informed about all of the possible risks.
