Good point. Theories are only theories. For instance, look upon the action of Tianeptine, that French molecule which used to treat depression very effectively. It is a serotonin accelerator means taking as much as serotonin out of your system. Still it works. How strange ?
I haven't had much luck with buspar, because it gave me an awesome black mood and made me extremely nauseated. But I remember it made everything more intense while I was on it. The numbing sensation of Prozac was well countered by it. But als! those side effects... If there was a medication similar to buspar without those side effects!
