If your psychiatrist tries to refer you back to your GP for medication advice on anxiety and or depression or any other "mental" situation, I'd advise on getting a new psychiatrist! A board certified one at that....they are suppose to be specialists in dealing with mind medications....to determine what medications will work best for your problems. A GP is trained in a variety of areas with no particular specialty.
When I began to ask my internist about problems with anxiety, depression, etc. he "insisted" I see a specialist who could diagnose me & treat me with the proper medications. Not that he wasn't willing....it's just that he was full aware it was more than he needed to try to deal with. I respect him for that. That's why our medical fields have specialists.
Just my opinion! Best of luck to you!
