Efexor and BPD?

I have recently started a low dose of efexor, as I presented to the doctor with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, he said to me that this is for "depression" although I found out that I have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Is there anybody else out there who has been prescribed efexor for this condition?
