1) I became horribly, severely depressed VERy quickly
2) I had uncontrollable crying fits that would start at the drop of a hat and were so powerful that it was like vomiting. Crying would last for minutes to an hour - unable to stop.
3) I became VERY VERY close to considering suicideThose were the worst. No "brain shocks" like with SSRIs or dizziness, etc - mostly emotional side effects. Why did I go off of it? Becuase it was causing extreme weight gain, joint pain, water retention, constipation, complete loss of interest of sex and complete loss of ANY sexual desire. Found out it also was agrivating my asthma and caused horrific nights of acid reflux where I would wake up having aspirated the acid - the most painful thing I have every gone through.
Nardil was a wonderdrug when I first started it - but after a month or two it went down hill.
As for the Vicodin - my doctor is a psychiatrist at a Big Ten univeristy teaching hospital - a VERY good place for experimental therapies and uses of meds for off-label uses. The Vicodin was NOT prescribed for the withdrawl - we had no idea how bad the withdrawl would be. I mentioned to my doc before the holidays that opiates had always helped my depression. She then discussed my cases with collegues and they gave the ok to give it a try.
I've had treatment resistant depression for about 10-11 years (I'm 32 today). Been on every cocktail - not looking at other dopamine agonists like Mirapex, etc.
