Thanks, I really appreciate your notes of praise, guys.
To allye: it is excellent that you found a doctor with those credentials. It's reassuring to know that your doctor actually KNOWS the drugs he's prescribing. I'm not saying that all psychiatrists don't--on the contrary, many I've had know an astounding amount. But I've had one doctor--one who was a decent psychiatrist, at that--who admitted during the second session that I probably knew more about many of the drugs he prescribed than he did. He was an excellent PSYCHOTHERAPIST, however, which for a psychiatrist is almost unheard of these days.
I also had an old Polish guy who started out as a D.O. (bone doctor), got a Ph.D. in psychology, years of psychodynamic training, became a therapist, and then decided to take all of his skills, wrap them up into one package, and become a clinical psychopharmacologist. Now that guy was awesome!
I actually hope to be a clinical psychopharmacologist someday--if I can manage the billion years of school needed to do so. ;)
