prozac and ocd

Posted by slippinaway on February 8, 2004, at 10:40:28

hello,
i have a question maybe someone has a better understanding of antidepressants than i do?
i have a problem with ocd/depression/gad.
things get much worse for me in the fall/winter
also when major changes occur in my life i get all out of whack. well, recently{aug.} i had a huge change, my first child was born. this is a great thing for me but it also has turned my cod into a monster because the type of ocd i have makes me feel like i always have to perform rituals and compulsions to protect the ones i love and keep the good things in my life"good"
i tried lexapro for a few weeks and it made me feel very irritable and strange. prozac has worked good for me in the past with ocd but once i got on it i ended up doing some out of character things like leaving my girlfriend and going out drinking all the time etc.
so now i'm afraid that even if prozac makes my ocd better i might end up not having my normal feelings toward my son/wife. i'm afraid that it will make me not care about them as much and dull my feelings??
does this sound like it's possible or am i just worrying too much like usual??
thanx~~
