Thanks for the encouragment, Stay-at-home-mom. I don't even fight with the size 8 pants anymore - I HAVE to be comfortable, so I'm in a size 10. It would just be nice to have a waistline again. I too have 2 kids (post-partum depression with both) and I'm 41 years old, so I do struggle with the question of whether I'm blaming the medication when it's really just age, but I do know that ALL the different medications I tried before affected my weight in some way -- usually made me lose weight. This is the first med I've been on that made me gain weight so dramatically. But it's also been ABSOLUTELY the best med for treating my depression and anxiety. I've actually already talked to my pdoc about trying to go off or reduce my dose and see if I maintain my current level of well-being. It's a little scarey, to be honest; but the weight thing is starting to get me down. We're going to wait until summer to do the trial -- I have a little Seasonal Affective Disorder as well, so winter is not a good time to try to reduce my meds.
Please keep us posted about your progress and whether you do or don't stay on this med. It has been so helpful to hear other people's experiences.
