Goodbye remeron--hello insomnia

Gave up the Remeron 3 days ago since I started Nerontin. What are some reccomendations on a good sleep aid that doesn't make you a zombie the following day? Ambien & Sonata are junk...benzo's are out of the question...screw Remeron... Looking for something heavy duty, but with a fairly short half-life. Thanx all!!!
