I am diagnosed as BiPolar and I am currently up to 200 mg of lamictal and 300mg of wellbutrin. Before I started these two , I was on depakote 1000mg, seroquel, and wellbutrin... I had ran out of meds and at the time couldn't afford to go back to my doctor to get more meds. My cousin was taking adderall but her doctor switched her so she gave me the rest that she had... I know that you aren't suppose to just change meds like that but I was really starting to feel "weird". So I started taking the adderall.... I felt so good... I was able to finish things I started months ago... was able to focus much better. I wasn't scared to go out around people in a social enviroment. In short , I had never felt so good... So when I fianlly was able to make an appointment with my doctor, I told him that I wanted to switch to adderall... He looked at me like I was crazy... I am 34 years old.. He says that they only prescribe this med to kids and that it is habit forming... I was very disappointed. So first he tried me on stattera... That did not work for me... So then he switched me to the lam and well... I really don't feel like this is working for me either... I have no energy and I am gaining weight... Actually I am more depressed now then I have been in a long time... My doctor says there is no way he will ever prescribe the adderall to me... Should I try another pdoc or is it impossible for me to ever get back on the adderall... I think that it is a shame that the only med I felt ever worked for me is supposedly bad for me... I am very confused and frustrated... Any help is greatly appreciated.....
