I would very much like to put together a compilation of doctor/hospital/pharmacy horror stories pertaining to malpractice, negligence, abuse, etc. of patients who take psychotropic medication. Since the end-product of my research and compilation would hopefully be a published magazine or newspaper article, it is essential that you provide the name of the doctor, hospital or pharmacy (if applicable), location, date, approximate time (if you recall), and a full description of the incident. A good example would be the recent Psychobabble post regarding the hospital staff's belief that the poster/patient had to be exorcised to remove the demons that were responsible for his/her convulsions. Other viable stories might relate to dispensing the wrong medicine, prescribing blatantly unsuitable medicine (such as a major tranquilizer instead of a stimulant), being roughed up and abused by police after calling a suicide hotline, having to wait for hours before being seen by a doctor during a withdrawal crisis, or having a doctor divulge confidential information that does not pertain to sexual abuse or other perceived harm or threat.
You can post your stories on this board or forward to my E-mail address below:If you desire anonymity, I will personally guarantee it and promise to withold publication of anyone's E-mail address. You can provide a fictitious name or use your real name (please indicate which), but the specifics regarding the doctor or hospital/pharmacy's name must be true and accurate.
I encourage everyone who has a story to tell to come forth and tell it. People everywhere should know what we are sometimes forced to go through, as if our suffering ain't enough.
