I have been taking SSRI's for a long time and was diagnosed with RLS (restless leg syndrome) which my shrink believes is from the meds. I don't have it all of the time but it only happens at night when I am trying to fall asleep or it wkes me up in the middle of the night! The pain has been so intense: feels like my feet and calves are on fire! The pain is so hard to describe, it's almost like a deep throbbing pain that shoots up my legs. The only way to relieve the pain is to move my legs, which means I have to get up and walk around he house! My shrink gave me a prescription for Klonopin, which works. I also tried Neurontin and Vicodin. I don't like to take the Klonopin because it gives me a nasty hangover the next day; the Neurontin doesn't work; and the Vicodin makes me moody and lethargic the next day. The leg problem seems to be worse when I am stressed out or anxious. Does anyone have any other ideas? I have a script for an anti-Parkinsonian med, but it takes a week or two to work and you have to take it every day.
