I agree with you that enviornmental routine has a huge impact on emotion. However, depression can sort of blunt the "cues" that normally evoke emotion in people such as music, sex, etc, Depression(at least my form) is not just a feeling of sadness, Infact, I don't feel sad at all, I don't feel anything.It's a numbness and a vagueness and an inability to think straight and concentrate that only drugs,for better or worse, can help.
