I have been on both and can tell you that there is no dose of SJW that will give you results even close to Celexa. Celexa is also safer than SJW with regards to interactions with other drugs. If Celexa is working for you, don't even think about SJW.
To cut down on the cost of Celexa, there are 2 options:
1) Get your doctor to write you prescriptions for 40 mg tablets instead of 20 mg tablets. Then cut the 40's in half. There is nothing unethical about your doctor doing this. Since the 40's cost the same as the 20's, your total monthly drug costs will be cut in half.
2) Switch to Lexapro. Lexapro is simply a more concentrated form of Celexa. Get your doctor to prescribe the 20 mg pills of Lexapro. Then cut the pills in fourths (it's really easy to do that with a razor knife). Each fourth will be 5 mg of Lexapro which is equivalent to (actually stronger than) 10 mg of Celexa. This option will make your monthly drugs costs only one fourth of what it currently is.
As for your difficulty getting health insurance, I don't know what to tell you. But switching to SJW from a drug that curretnly works for you is going to cause more problems than it's going to solve.
