In reply to Zoloft vs Lexapro.. Please help, posted by Kristen_03 on October 9, 2003, at 11:06:26
Hi Kristen,
Gosh~I feel like I'm posting to myself. I never knew another Kristen would show up on the board.
Anyway, I'm on 10mg of Lexapro~now for almost 3 months. It has worked wonders for my depression. I've been battling major depression since 1995. I was 'diagnosed' with bipolar in 1999, but my current psychiatrist and I have realized it's really more major depression than anything that plaques me.
Lexapro started to work for me very, very quickly. During the initial period of adjustment, at times, I found myself very, very tired, and I would sleep a lot. I used OTC sleep aids and it helped a lot. If you experience any unpleasant side effects, hopefully they will pass~they all did with me, and there's always a solution to them, that will help put your mind and body at ease.
I really like Lexapro a lot. There are a few people on it right now that post, and there are plenty posts in the archives here. I can find you some if you want, just let me know.
Dr. Bob's board is great, and has a lot of wonderful information, support, and experience, glad you found it:-) I started posting here about 7 months ago, took a break, because I was hospitalized, and have started posting again the last few months.
Anyway, I had no untolerable side effects since starting Lexapro, and everyone's 'chemicals' are different so to speak, so you may do well on it and you may not. I really hope you're one of the one's blessed to receive the great benefits from Lexapro.
Take care, and if I can be of any help to you about Lexparo~please don't hesitate to ask, I'm here for you.
Many other folks here can really help you concerning Lexapro too.
Welcome to PsychoBabble, and enjoy it:-)
Kristen> Hi everyone..My name is Kristen Lechner.I take it that there has been some problems in here in the past with someone else by the name of Kristen..Explains why I had to choose the name Kristen_03, My name was already taken...Anyways I just turned 40 last week.Im a stay at home mom and have 4 boys and 2 girls..ages 5 thru 22..I have have been battling depression/panic disorder for the past 15 yrs.Have been on several different meds during this period.I was placed on zoloft about 10 yrs ago.Is stopped the panic attack and helped a good bit with the depression. One of the SE trade offs,is that all my sexual desires took a long road trip which has really put a strain on my marriage.I have reading up on Lexapro and am considering asking my Dr to try me on it..Am really nervous about giving up my Zoloft safety net..Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about the Lexapro?
