Hi: To answer some of your questions: BuSpar's half-life is about 3 hours. You have to take it twice a day, at least. The only Seratonin site it affects is 5HT1a as an agonist (both pre and post-synaptically). This is not the site involved in the SSRI's sexual side effects. So it may help there.
I don't know if it helps Social Phobia, but it's main usage is for GAD, IBS, and as an AD augment.
It may well have a bit of a stimulant effect because it is also a partial Dopamine agonist, but that may not really "kick-in" unless at higher doses. The average anti-anxiety/GAD daily dose is 20-30mg. Can be taken as high as 60mg per day, apparently. The dopamine factor may also help boost sex drive.
I have been on it for about 3 weeks now, titrated up very slowly, on 20 mg per day for about 10 days. Have seen zero anti-anxiety affect yet (I have GAD), but it takes about 2-3 weeks on at least 20 mg to start working...so I'm still hoping!!!
I've found no fatigue at all and no lowering of sex drive so far. It's a drug that has relatively few side effects (yeay!) BUT, it's not famous for it's efficacy either!
It might be a good drug to augment Prozac, but if you are looking for something to counteract SSRI s.e's (tiredness/sexual problems..Wellbutrin seems to used a lot. Although, if you have a problem with anxiety, that may not work.
Check back in about a week, and I'll tell you if I develop any s.e's and if starts working!!
